Silver Saints are specialists in battle with sometimes powerful equipments of tools and weapons to strengthen their capacities, although the general rule of Saints prefers unarmed combat. When they receive an assignment of the Sanctuary, they go to any part of the world to fulfill it whatever the cost, using all their power and sometimes bringing also some Bronze Saints as support. While the Bronze Saints are somehow novices, the Silver Saints represent the true concept of a Saint of Athena, with respectable strength and Cosmo, although the most fearful menaces are possible to fight only with the aid of the Gold Saints.
Even being true respectable Saints, the Silver Saints has been somehow mistrated in the series, being defeated by the five Bronze Saints, intitally with many difficulties, later quite too easily, probably because then it was the time to leave the scene to the Gold Saints. Neverthless, Eagle Marin and Ophiuchus Shaina have been always giving assistance to the main protagonists for the whole course of the story, while Lyra Orphée fought some of the most powerful Specters during Hades saga. The power of Silver Saints overcomes greatly that of the Bronze Saints with the weakest Silver Saint being at least twice as strong as a Bronze Saint but they can be three, four or five times stronger with the power to reach the speed of Mach 5. Their Cosmo is not completely awakened but they have a wider knowledge of it.
Despite many Silver Saints are far from the power of a Gold Saint, there are a few of them who are said to be even stronger like Lyra Orphée said to be the legendary Saint, Crateris Suikyō defined by Ikki to be stronger than the Gold Saints he previously fought or Ara Hakurei, as strong as the Grand Pope Sage and previous Cancer Sage. Beside these rare excptions, Silver Saints remain supportive although expert Saints along the story. Another mission given by the Sanctuary to the Silver Saints is the one to take care of the Cloths that does not have owners. It is not rare to see Silver Saints training potential candidates to one of these Cloths.
Added by Goldsaint13All the masters seen in the story, if they weren't Gold Saints, were Silver Saints, sometimes even really powerful ones and to find a successor worthy of a Cloth is part of the work of these Saints in most cases because they have enough skill and knowledge to being able to train new cadets. As many Saints and Cloths were lost in the last Holy War, to train new Saints and to increase to the power to fight are the important tasks to be fulfilled before the next Holy War. In total there exists 24 Silver Saints, but only sixteen were active in the story of Saint Seiya and a few more in The Lost Canvas with also some prominent characters like Crane Yuzuriha and Ara Hakurei.
The Silver Cloths, the main protection for Silver Saints, freeze at a temperature of -200°C and are a lot harder to being damaged than Bronze Cloths. Currently there has only been 23 Silver Cloths confirmed with only two more left, but the Silver Cloth of Orion from the first film may soon fall in the line. Some Silver Cloths has been revealed in the Saint Seiya Encyclopedia, they represent the constellations of Crateris and Ara. Recently since the start of Saint Seiya Next Dimension, a Saint who was active in the previous Holy War with Hades has been revealed as Crateris Suikyo while in The Lost Canvas, again about the previous Holy War, Ara Hakurei appears.
