Scorpio Sonia

As the Bronze saints drew closer towards Mars at the top of the 12 temples, the witch Medea coherced her stepdaughter, Martian soldier Hornet Sonia, into donning the Scorpio Gold Cloth, which was currently without an appointed saint. Although Sonia was unfit to handle the power of a Gold Cloth, her desperation in seeking both her stepmother and her father's love pushed her to accept it. Sonia cut her hair in preparation for wearing the Gold Cloth, and added a golden mask that hid her eyes.

In the Scorpio House, Kouga, Souma and Yuna discover that Sonia is the new Scorpio Gold Saint. She attacks the young Saints and after defeating Koga and Souma, prepared to kill Yuna. Seeking to settle the score for his father's death at her hands, Souma distracts Sonia, giving Kouga and Yuna the opportunity to escape. As the Lionet saint prepares to battle her, Sonia creates a circle of fire around them, setting the stage for their battle.

During the battle, Sonia shows the cloth stone of Southern Cross Kazuma, in her possession since she eliminated Kazuma, and destroys it in front of Souma. Furious, Souma manages to balance the fight for a moment and tries to convince their opponent to stop fighting, questioning her motivations for putting herself in such danger and seeking her family's love through bloodshed. The attempt fails, and drive Sonia deeper into madness and desperation to the point she prepares to finish him off using the Antares Maelstrom. Sonia was unable to handle the power of the attack though, and the Scorpio cloth wound up destroying itself and creating a unstable vortex of power that threatened to consume her. Hoping to save her, Souma awakens the Seventh Sense before an explosion inside the Scorpio House but failed to save Sonia from being overwhelmed by her own cosmo. Weakly calling out to her father, Sonia died in Souma's arms as he attempted to comfort her.

After her death, Medea coldly declared that Sonia could never have been her daughter and reports the situation to Mars with a false feeling of regret for her actions. The God of War is deeply distraught over losing his only daughter, after having already lost her Mother so many years ago.

After the destruction of Aria's staff, the resulting Cosmo rain that washed away the Darkness wounds of everybody afflicted on Earth also removed the battle scars on Sonia's corpse.

Technique[]

  • Crimson Needle (クリムゾンニードル, Kurimuzon Nīdoru): With her cosmo, Sonia shoots needles made of energy against the opponent. It is a variation of the Hornet Stinger with more attacks. However, it can be shattered by the punches of Lionet Souma.
  • Antares Maelstrom (アンタレス・メイルストローム, Antaresu Meirusutorōmu): The star 'Antares'--which the name literally means 'equal to Mars', Sonia raises her cosmo to its greatest extent. Based off the name, it would have been a large explosion. However, she dies before executing it, so the technique itself is not actually seen, even at full power.

Notes[]

    • With Paradox before her, she is the second female Gold Saint, although they both became Gold Saints under unlawful pretenses, having obtained the cloths during the Martian takeover of the Sanctuary.
