The Whale Cloth  (or Cetus Cloth in the anime) is the cloth of the Saint Moses in Saint Seiya and an unknown Saint in Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas. It is of the second class of the cloths that Athena's Saints wield, the Silver Cloths.

Mythology[]

The Cetus Cloth is based on the constellation of the same name. It is based on the Greek sea monster, Cetus, which is shown in later depictions as an enormous whale. It was sent by the god Poseidon to attack the kingdom of Ethiopia, a punishment on the region due to their queen, Cassiopeia, bragging of her beauty surpassing that of the Nereids. This proved a grave mistake, as one of the Nereids, Amphitrite, was Poseidon's wife and queen. Cassiopeia's husband, King Cepheus, asked an oracle what could be done to stop Cetus. As a reply, Poseidon demaned the life of Cepheus's daughter, Andromeda, who was to be sacrificed to him, eaten by the monster.

Without any other option, Cepheus and Cassiopeia did as the oracle instructed but, luckily, the hero Perseus, returning from killing the gorgon Medusa, saw Andromeda and offered to save her if the royal couple would allow him to marry the princess, whom Perseus fell in love with. Her parents easily agreed, and, when Cetus arrived, Perseus held the head of Medusa before the creature, causing it to turn to solid stone at the sight.

No Minor Spout[]

Moses trained to be a Saint in New Zealand by an unknown master. The cloth was likely kept in Sanctuary until a Saint worthy of wearing it was found. He follows the orders of the Pope, and is among the first group of Silver Saints to attack Seiya and his fellow Bronze Saints. His mighty strength allows him to, with the help of Asterion's mind reading, severely hurt Marin. He dies fighting Seiya after claiming Marin was his sister.

Previous War[]

The Cloth was seen briefly at a gathering of Saints in Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas, but has only rarely been seen since.

Special Abilities of Silver Cloth of Whale[]

The Whale Silver Cloth, while having all of the strength and endurance of a Silver Cloth, has no special traits that make it stand out as a cloth.

Techniques used by Whale Saints[]

Moses uses one major technique during his various fights.

  • Whale Spouting Bomber : An offensive technique. Using great strength to send flying his foes high into the air, and then strikes them with a punch as they come down, combining his strength and their momentum against them.
