Mizar Zeta Syd (ゼータ星ミザールのシド, Zēta-sei Mizāru no Shido) is a God Warrior of Asgard. Syd represents the Zeta Star of Ursa Major Constellation.

History[]

Syd was seemingly the only son of a wealthy Asgardian family, but had a dark secret : he actually has a twin brother that his parents abandoned as a baby due to a superstition/law of Asgard. That is why Syd grew up not knowing he actually had a twin brother named Bud. He introduces himself at the Kido Mansion as an "ambassador" from Asgard, asking for Athena's head. He announces having defeated Taurus Aldebaran with a single blow, and mocks Athena's Saints, incurring the wrath of the Saints present at the scene. He faces off with a few of the Bronze Saints, dispatching Jabu, Ban, Nachi, Ichi and Geki with a flick of the hand. As he was about to attack Athena, Shun and Seiya arrive at the scene and face off with him.

Seiya is dealt a powerful strike temporarily incapacitating him, leaving Shun to fend him off for a while but is also struck down when Syd lures him into looking at the sun, seizing the blinding chance. Just as Shun was about to be dealt a lethal blow, Ikki intervenes, saving Shun. Before they can fight Seiya appears and insists on a rematch to uphold his honor. Seiya unleashes his signature Pegasus Meteor Fist which Syd mocks as he easily parries, before finding himself overwhelmed by the meteors rapidly increasing in speed and is soon catapulted by the barrage of strikes. By his admission, he congratulates Seiya on being the first man to ever injure him. Just as the fight was about to escalate, Athena orders the five Bronze Saint stop the fight. Syd then acknowledges the Saints will be worthy foes before retreating.

In the Asgard fight within Valhalla Palace, he is the penultimate warrior (with his brother Bud) in combat. He stops the Saints' advance and immobilizes them, then faces Shun in combat. Initially, Shun is hopelessly overpowered by the God Warrior, whose abilities were being bolstered by the gradual influx of cold air. At some point in the fight, Syd delivers a fatal blow using his strongest move, Blue Impulse. An unconscious Shun eventually gets up after encouragement from Ikki's voice and removes his Cloth. Syd mocks the Andromeda Saint for foolishly removing his sole means of protection before being stopped dead in his tracks by Nebula Stream. The God Warrior desperately tries to move before being launched into the air by Nebula Storm. This move is enough to seemingly kill Syd. During Ikki and Bud's confrontation, its shown that he still retained the strength to encourage his brother Bud to defeat the Saints and win the Zeta God Robe. Syd knew he had a protective shadow, Bud, but he would not get his attention or let him know his love until then. In the end, dying, Syd acknowledges Bud and asks Ikki to kill them both while holding the Phoenix Saint in place. His brother Bud refuses to kill him because he was moved by what Ikki taught him, so ultimately Syd falls lifeless, and Bud takes his body back to where they were born, the house of his parents.

Star and Robe[]

Mizar - Star Zeta: The God Robe of Mizar is the Smilodon tiger. The Smilodon is an extinct feline, popularly known as the saber-tooth tiger, who lived in North America and South America for ten thousand years. These felines ranged greatly in size, had specimens that measured more than three feet long. They were strictly carnivores, and their upper canine teeth could be up to eight inches long. In mythology, they were represented as the two cats Golden Snow, whose first called Bygul (the name means "Golden Bee", ie Honey) and second Trjegul (the name means "Golden Tree", ie Amber), who pulled the chariot of Freya, goddess of fertility.

Robe: Mizar is the Zeta Star in the constellation Ursa Major. The armor totem has the shape of a black sabertooth tiger.

Techniques and Abilities[]

Syd is one of the strongest God Warriors, arguably second only to Siegfried himself (with the exception of Bud who is a shadow). By his own admission, he was never injured in combat until Seiya struck him with his Pegasus Meteor Fist. He was able to hold his own against Taurus Aldebaran, and later on dispatched Jabu, Ban, Nachi, Ichi and Geki instantly (albeit without their own Cloths) and proved an extremely difficult opponent against both Seiya and Shun.

Viking Tiger Claw (バイキング・タイガー・クロウ, (Baikingu Taigā Kurō): His most used attack. Once Syd's fingernails take on the appearance of actual tiger claws, it shoots a flurry of punishing claw strikes at lightspeed, while producing frost that coats the struck opponent's body in the aftermath.

Blue Impulse (ブルー・インパルス, (Burū Inparusu): Syd's strongest technique. After lifting and opening his arms, he generates a large blue sphere of energy resembling an atom, seemingly created from his Odin Sapphire, which is released after charging up. According to Syd, it is the fury of the Arctic Ocean, and this attack was able to render Shun comatose for a long duration.
