Alcor Zeta Bud (ゼータ星アルコルのバド, Zēta-sei Arukoru no Bado) is a Shadow God Warrior of Asgard in the series Saint Seiya, by Masami Kurumada.

Appearance[]

Bud has an identical appearance to Syd. He is tall, standing a little taller than Syd, with a lean but muscular build and medium length, light teal colored hair. Opposite of Syd, Bud's cloth is white with a white and red cape but does not hold one of the Odin Sapphires.

Personality[]

Bud is rather cold and calculating. He has shown great resentment toward Syd and his birth parents for believing the superstition of twins being a sign of bad fortune and leaving him to die. Although he greatly disliked Syd for having the life he should have had and becoming a God Warrior for Asgard he also showed brotherly concern when Syd was in difficult situations.

Plot[]

Alcor Zeta Bud is the twin brother of Syd, abandoned by his parents at birth due to a superstitious curse in which twins are a bad omen and he was left to die in the forest during a snowstorm but was found and raised by a peasant couple. It was several years later when he was out hunting rabbits that he would meet his brother who traded a similar dagger to the one Bud had to spare the rabbit he was about to kill. At seeing the similarities between the daggers and their appearance, Bud quickly figured out who Syd was and became angered and jealous of the luxurious life Syd lived while he struggled on a daily basis.

From this moment, hatred motivated Bud in his training, becoming a warrior stronger than his brother. Strictly speaking, Bud is not an official God Warrior, as his God Robe doesn't have an Odin Sapphire, but its power is equal to the authentic Mizar Zeta Robe. Hilda, with the Nibelungen Ring, told Bud that if his brother Syd died, he would become the official Zeta God Warrior, further fueled by Bud's resentment towards Syd.

Bud remained hidden in the shadows ever since, protecting his brother. He went with him to the temple of Aldebaran, knowing that his brother could not defeat him by himself. Bud applied a treacherous blow that defeated the Taurus Saint, but did not kill him, because he could avoid the "deadly" attack at the last second. Along with Siegfried, Bud was the only God Warrior that could not be defeated entirely by the Bronze Saints, but Ikki did make him lose the will to fight. After the defeat of Syd, Bud fought with Shaina and Shun. Ikki then fought against Bud, and thanks to Ikki's Specter Punch saw his true feelings for Syd. Bud takes his deceased twin brother in his arms and carries his body with him. At the end of the Saga of Asgard it is implied that Bud also died in the snow beside Syd, near his birthplace.

Technique[]

  • Shadow Viking Tiger Claw (暗黒(シャドウ)バイキング・タイガー・クロウ, Shadou Baikingu Taigā Kurō): Bud pounces on his opponent, transforming his nails into claws which cut up his enemy with numerous light speed slashes. This is a slightly mightier version of Syd's Viking Tiger Claw.

Relationships[]

  • Mizar Zeta Syd: Bud's identical twin brother. For most of his life, Bud held great anger toward his brother for having the life he was denied and later becoming an official God Warrior for Asgard. However, he appeared to never truly hate his brother as he helped him secretly several times against Athena's Saints and was not able to strike Ikki down as it would mean killing Syd to do so.
