The Auriga Silver Cloth is the cloth of the Saint Capella in Saint Seiya and Kattu in Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas. It is of the second class of the cloths that Athena's Saints wield, the Silver Cloths.
The Auriga, or Charioteer constellation is based on the myth of Myrtilus, a son of the god Hermes, who participated in a deadly chariot race to win the hand of the Princess Hippodamia, acting as the chariot driver for her father, King Oenomaus. The Peloponnesian prince, Pelops, sought to marry Hippodamia, and, although given a magical chariot by Poseidon, he made an alliance with Myrtilus: if Myrtilus would help Pelops win the race, he would be allowed to take Hippodamia's virginity after Pelops married her. Myrtilus kept his end of the bargain by sabotaging his king's chariot, resulting in Oenomaus's death and Pelops winning the right to marry Hippodamia. However, as the three were traveling home, Myrtilus demanded his right to sleep with Hippodamia first in accordance with their deal. Angered and despite their bargain, Pelops instead threw Myrtilus off a cliff to his death; Myrtilus cursed Pelops and Hippodamia's future descendants as he died. Hermes later placed his son in the sky as the constellation Auriga.
What Goes Around Comes AroundEdit
Capella trained to be a Saint in Sanctuary, Greece by an unknown master. The cloth was likely kept in Sanctuary until a Saint worthy of wearing it was found. He follows the orders of the Pope, and is among the second group of Silver Saints to attack Seiya and his fellow Bronze Saints. He is hurt by Ikki's attack, and falls prey to his Phantom Demon Punch, where his mind is broken, and Ikki shatters his Cloth quite easily.
The Kittu briefly appeared as a fallen Saint in The Lost Canvas. He was killed early on with two other Silvers, and they are brought back by Hades. They all fell by the hands of Gold Saints.
Special Abilities of Silver Cloth of AurigaEdit
The Auriga Silver Cloth has two discs, which make up the wheels of the Charioteer, that can be used as weapons, to devastating effect when the Saint is strong.
Techniques used by Auriga SaintsEdit
Capella uses one major technique during his various fights.
- Flying Saucer: An offensive technique. The user throws his disc at a high speed, and uses it to inflict mortal wounds, possibly by severing limbs. It can travel in many varied trajectories, but tends to return to him after use.
